well….I just smile for the camera.

Yep. I get paid to smile for the camera. A little silly, I know, but I have to say it can be quite fun & I love doing it, because it enables me so to save up for music projects, be it an EP, a music video, a tour, etc.  As some of you know, I was able to put together my EP, “Before The Dawn,” all by my lonesome! I saved & saved & saved some more, both from my weekly music gigs along with my modeling gigs, until I had what I needed to work with friend & super-producer Jim Roach, and voila! We now have an EP.

So I thought I’d give you guys a little preview of what I do to make the music happen…

Here’s a fun shoot we did for a company called HoodieBuddie. The goal was to make it look like we were flying through the air in our ultra-comfy hoodies. Click the link to see a video of me attempting to fly

1. Fast food is never a really “good” idea.

2. When someone tells you they want to take you to a beautiful place, its probably not the kind of place you were envisioning (I actually learned that a long time ago so I didn’t fall for it…don’t you worry!)

3. GPS is a great thing when you use it. When you forget to, well, you can imagine what happens from there…

4. There are so many nice people in the world!!

Thanks to Kreuzberg Coffee, The Naked Lounge, CoHo at Stanford, Red Rock Coffee, Jitters, Room 5, She Dances for letting us share in offering hope, my parents for always having an open door policy, Meg for coming to 2 tour-stops & buying us dinner (yum!), Shenandoah Christine for being the best sister-musician a girl could ask for, Victoria Clemmons for being an amazing roadie-buddie & everyone else we met along the way. Couldn’t have done it without you guys!

We decided to really take a step out of the ordinary & go shopping! Ok, maybe not so unordinary….but we found some extraordinary finds if I do say so myself!!!!

Oversized spectacle-style glasses

LBD with shoulder-pads which I’m a huge sucker for. I’ve actually created my own flower-studded, fringe-induced shoulder pads that I wear on stage. They are fierce. (To see said shoulderpads, watch the video:  “Running Out” on The Nightingale Tour)

After shopping, Victoria were feeling quite ravenous. Its not a pretty picture when I’m hungry.

Give me pizza or give me death!

With bellies full of pepperoni pizza, we headed over to the gig. Jitters in downtown Santa Barbara is super cute. Its directly on the walkway with double doors that open up to the sidewalk so passer-bys can have an up-close & personal view of the performance. We had two girls (just 16 yrs old!) open for us. Their band is called Lily & Marley and they were simply adorable! Not to mention some killer skills on the keys! Keep it coming girls!!!

With chamomile tea in hand, we drove back to LA afterwards. I was so glad to snuggle into my own bed & enjoy being home once again. We have our final stop of the tour this Friday night, June 24th, at Room 5 in Hollywood at 9:30pm. We’ll see you guys there!

Good music always helps the time fly

After some R&R on Friday, we got back on the road to visit San Francisco as Victoria had never been. Being a NorCal girl, I was happy to oblige as tour guide for my roadie pal.

We hit up the Ferry Building which had a verdant Farmers Market scene. I am a complete sucker for fresh fruits & vegetables. What’s not to love?

After walking the piers, we each selected some yummy fruits & treats for the road & got back on it. We headed to Mountain View, a quaint little town in the San Jose area, where we played Red Rock. It’s an awesome Not-For-Profit venue (a coffee shop downstairs & music venue upstairs) that helps benefit social projects worldwide, from
helping fight human trafficking to providing clean water in Africa.

This kind of thing is right up our alley as we had teamed up with SheDances, a non-profit organization helping women out of human trafficking in the Honduras, specifically for this tour. Please take a look at their site & the amazing things they are doing for these girls.

We’ll see you all next in Santa Barbara at Jitters & lastly in LA for our final show at Room 5! much love

I had the lovely Miss Shenandoah Scott accompanying me again, playing melodica, egg-shakers & a milk jug (yes, you heard right). As you can see, we’re rockin our Dr. Martins (my patent pair compliments of the stylists at HoodieBuddie who I recently did a shoot for. Check them out!)

The illustrious Victoria & I pre-game! We had a pretty chill set as there were alot of students around studying but we were pretty successful in distracting them with our music….mwa ha ha! Thanks to everyone who came up to chat after. I <3 talking with each of you & so thankful for your sweet words.

had a relaxing day today walking by the river, drinking tea, eating calzones, & snuggling with my favorite kitty. and now it’s sleepy time before heading out in the morning for the san jose area (red rock coffee in mountain view).

TREEES! Sacramento is the city of tree which is maybe why, at a looming 5’11″, I feel quite at home amongst them. And boy did I feel at home on stage. I was sanwiched by my roadie-pal, the stunning Victoria Clemmons, who also stands at 5’11″ & my sister, the multi-talented Shenandoah Scott, who graces us with her lovely presence at 5’10″. Needless to say, there were some tall drinks of water around!

That’s right, I leave on The Nightingale Tour, sponsored by the amazing non-prof organization, SheDances, in a little over 2 weeks. As you can imagine I’m excited. I get to come sing to all of you, meet new people, spread the word about amazing things being done through SheDances, and in all of this excitement, I am going to commit to blogging and/or vlogging every day whilst on the road with my roadie-pal & folk-artist, Victoria Clemmons.
